About Get Online Week
Get Online Week is Good Things Foundation's annual campaign dedicated to digital inclusion. Since 2007, it's helped countless people boost their digital skills and confidence.
In partnership with our strategic partners, supporters and the National Digital Inclusion Network, 2024 saw over 1,000 free community events across the UK, helping thousands learn new skills and confidently get online to do things like manage their money, safely navigate the web or gain essential digital skills for employment.
Get Online Week 2024 is now over for another year, so stay tuned for the announcement of our 2025 dates!
Why digital skills matter now more than ever
In today’s world, getting online is crucial. 90% of jobs are only advertised online - yet our latest poll discovered over a quarter of people aren’t confident using the internet to compete for jobs. Shopping online can save you an average of £3.29 per purchase - yet one in 10 people aren’t confident managing finances online. And 61% of people worry about the security of their personal details online, holding them back from making the most of the internet.
TV personality Gail Porter took on the challenge of living without basic digital skills or access, experiencing these challenges and the isolation 8.5 million people in the UK currently face. At the end of her challenge, Gail visited Digital Skills Hub in Boscombe, part of our National Digital Inclusion Network, where she witnessed firsthand how community support empowers people to thrive in our digital world.
Watch Gail, the hub managers, and Ann—a digital novice-turned-digital champion—share their inspiring stories.
