Fun with digital photos
We have three Learn My Way topics dedicated to taking, viewing and editing photos on a touchscreen device. This article has some fun ways for your learners to practice these skills.
With modern smartphones, many people have access to a digital camera all day, every day.
Taking and sharing photos is one of the Essential Digital Skills and is a wonderful way for people of all ages to get creative and keep in touch with friends and family. Taking and sharing a photo is also sometimes required for essential online services.
Once your learners have completed the Learn My Way topics try one of the following activities for them to put their learning into practise.
These activities can help your learners to develop essential digital skills such as:
- Capturing and saving images
- Editing and enhancing photos
- Sending digital content
Photo journal
Ask learners to take a photo of something they have enjoyed between your weekly sessions. They can email it to you so that you can share them with other learners during the next session.
Treasure hunt
Give learners a challenge to take a picture of:
- Something blue
- A road sign
- An animal
You could add whatever else you think they might see between sessions. Then they can bring their smartphone and share the pictures the next time you meet.
Keeping in touch
If your learners use a WhatsApp group to stay in touch, encourage them to share photos of their breakfast (or another common daily activity). This helps them to keep in touch with each other between sessions.
Fun with filters
Facebook, Instagram and lots of other apps have some great lters you can use with your learners. If you want to avoid social media, there are other apps you might want to try so that they can have fun editing pics with filters, frames and stickers.
If you have more ideas about how to help people to learn how to take, edit and share photos, why not share them in our Facebook group
