Health service apps are a safe and simple way for people to access a range of health services on a smartphone, tablet or computer. This article highlights some of the features of the official health service apps for England, Scotland and Wales, together with related links.
Unfortunately there isn’t currently an official app available for health services in Northern Ireland.
England
The NHS App is available to anyone 13 years and over and registered with an NHS GP practice in England or Isle of Man.
It’s available on iOS and Android The app enables people in England to access digital health and care services.
This helps them stay well, get well, and manage their health. The features that users can access will vary depending on location, GP system, and whether they have verified their identity. Details on how to use these features are available on the NHS App features website.
A series of helpful videos are also available. These videos show you how to navigate the NHS App and use its services. Each video has a voice over and captions on screen.

Scotland
If you live in Scotland, the NHS 24 Online app allows you to find your nearest services and to assess your symptoms to find out what you should do next.
The Find my Nearest function allows you to locate health and care services within your local area by using your postcode or location. You will be able to see how far away each service is, if it is open or closed and contact details for the service.
The chatbot functions allows you to answer questions and find out how to get further advice for a number of symptoms and conditions.
The App is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

Wales
To use the NHS Wales App you must be registered with a GP in Wales.
You can access NHS Wales services such as NHS 111 Wales health advice and blood and organ donation using the App.
To access GP services online via the App, you must:
- be registered with a GP practice in Wales that is connected to the App
- have a fully verified NHS login, or a valid photo ID to set one up
- be aged 16 or over.
