Good Things Foundation partner with LIBF to sustainably fix the digital divide

23/10/2024

Good Things are partnering with LIBF on the National Device Bank to help more people in need access devices and connect with the digital world.

Empowering communities through digital

Good Things Foundation is pleased to have joined in partnership with LIBF, a London-based higher education provider, on the National Device Bank. This partnership aims to help individuals across the UK gain access to the digital tools and skills necessary to connect with essential services, enhance work opportunities, and reduce social isolation.

Millions of people are unable to access essential online services due to a lack of devices and/or digital skills (Lloyds UK Digital Index Study, 2023). With initiatives like the National Device Bank, we have been driving efforts to address this challenge. Already, almost 10,000 people have been gifted devices, allowing them to connect with loved ones, access vital services, increase their employment prospects, and improve their overall quality of life.

"Providing access to a device is a critical part of our support, enabling people to participate fully in society. We’re thrilled to have LIBF on board as we work to create a more digitally inclusive future."

Natasha Early, Partnerships Manager, Good Things Foundation

Working collaboratively to fix the digital divide

Our partnership with LIBF helps to build a future where everyone, regardless of their background, can benefit from digital technology, making sure no one is left behind.

Through this collaboration, LIBF has donated a range of IT equipment to support our ongoing efforts to fix the digital divide.

"We’re excited to support the amazing work that Good Things Foundation deliver and hope to continue with further donations in the future. "

Freddie McCann, Partnership Manager, LIBF

Good Things Foundation is committed to fixing the digital divide and reaching 1 million people across the UK by the end of 2025, with initiatives specifically tailored to the diverse needs of local communities.

How can other organisations get involved?

If you’re an organisation with disused devices, you can donate them to the National Device Bank!

From collection to refurbishment and redistribution, the National Device Bank is a cost-neutral and innovative solution for organisations to discard their IT equipment. Opposed to traditional IT asset disposal, donating devices:

  • Tackles e-waste and supports the environment - taking devices away from landfill and putting them into the hands of people who need them
  • Helps to give back to the community - it’s socially responsible!
