Crossing the Digital Divide: Alsadiq's Story
Thanks to data from the National Databank Hub Learn for Life, Alsadiq is now connected and no longer feels "very lost."
Feeling lost and disconnected
Before Alsadiq received a SIM card from the National Databank, he was "very lost."
As someone new to Sheffield, he was unfamiliar with the city and needed something to guide him.
Without a way to get connected, Alsadiq felt he had "nowhere to go both physically and mentally" and could only stay where he lived.
Thankfully, Alsadiq was introduced to National Digital Inclusion Network member Learn For Life, who could help him get online.
Improving English and Maths with data
He visited the Digital Inclusion Hub and received free data to help him connect to services that could help him find his way.
"After receiving the SIM card I could see different directions...I could use Google Maps to find my way around the new city instead of asking somebody. I could use the data to simplify my life and improve my situation."

Making the winter days warmer
Alsadiq is now studying English and Maths, using the data from the SIM card to research, listen to lectures and improve his skills.
He added:
"...I like listening to lectures and podcasts as I’m walking. I can follow videos and watch them to improve my English and Maths. Without data I cannot do this. The SIM card has made the winter days warmer for me."
