Crossing the Digital Divide: Janagie’s story
Eager to learn, 72 year old Janagie builds her confidence and transforms her daily life with data from the National Databank and digital support from Skills Enterprise.
An eagerness to learn
Janagie is a 72-year-old woman based in London, who sought to improve her conversational English skills and general digital skills. She was eager to embrace new technologies, but didn’t have the skills and internet access to make full use of digital.
Digital support and transformation
Through regular digital support sessions at Skills Enterprise, Janagie has built her confidence to explore different online resources, connect with others in her community, and improve her English.
Alongside digital skills support, Janagie was provided with free data from the National Databank. As a result, she felt a transformative shift in her daily life. With reliable internet access, she can now download essential apps, manage her finances online, engage more in digital communications, and put to use the digital skills she’s learnt.
A new sense of empowerment and independence
With this combination of support, Janagie has improved both her practical skills and felt an enrichment in her general quality of life. She now feels significantly more confident and secure in navigating the internet independently.
"I’m learning so much and enjoying every moment. I can now do things online that I never thought I could. Thank you for helping me grow and feel more independent."
